Jolieden is a modern African braiding salon based in Harlem, New York City. It was created to reimagine the braiding experience, elevating it to provide intentional care, thoughtful technique and genuine hospitality. 

Founded in 2018 by Diessou Kante, Jolieden has proven that new levels of confidence and self-expression are possible, and the journey begins when you walk through our door.

Our Story

Jolieden started with two things in mind: to provide a safe space for creative expression and unifying our community. This was first seeded by the experience of our founder, Diessou Kante, who was inspired by her mother’s work in a beauty salon. 

Kante often watched her mother’s clients leave their hair appointments with new confidence. With the same desire to affect people positively, Kante started her business to help her clients feel beautiful, cared for and confident. 

Today, Kante and her team continue this work of bringing every client’s vision to life, in a safe, comfortable and curated environment.
